My name is Jack Sturm. After being a graduate student in the mathematics department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) for four years and obtaining my Master's degree, I left in August 2020 and took a position with the Greensboro Housing Authority as a Data Technology Specialist. As of fall 2021, I returned to UTK as a Lecturer (working remotely online). I am also a part-time adjunct instructor (online) at North Central College. I currently live in High Point, NC with my husband Cody and our Goldendoodle Henry.

While I was at the University of Tennessee as a graduate student, I served as the President of the Math Graduate Student Council (MGSC), Vice President of the Graduate Student Senate (GSS), Secretary of the MGSC, Vice President and co-founder of the UTK chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics, and the Secretary of OUTGrads.

In June 2016, I received dual degrees in mathematics (B.S.) and theatre (B.A.) with a minor in computer science and a concentration in the college scholars honors program from North Central College in Naperville, IL. In May 2019, I received a Master of Science in mathematics from the University of Tennessee. I passed preliminary exams in Topology and Analysis, and I fulfilled all academic credit requirements toward a Ph.D. in Mathematics. I was in the dissertation stage under the supervision of Dr. Joan Lind when I decided that my interests do not lie in research and I would not complete the Ph.D. program.
